MLB The Show 25: Manny Ramirez And Roger Clemens Aren’t The Only New Legends
Blog Article
If Manny Ramirez and Roger Clemens were the only new legends coming to MLB The Show 25, most fans would be pretty satisfied—especially when you see that there appears to have been serious work put into improving Road to the Show, Franchise mode, and Diamond Dynasty.
However, based on what I’ve heard, there is good reason to believe those two are just the start of a pretty strong class of legends added to the franchise this year.
Manny Ramirez in MLB The Show 25
A great Ramirez card figures to be one of the most dangerous right-handed bats in Diamond Dynasty. There should also be a few versions of him with Cleveland that fans can enjoy. We may even see a sneaky good 2009 version of Ramirez from his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
You may not remember it, but at 37 years old, Ramirez hit .290 with 19 home runs and 63 RBIs in 104 games.
Roger Clemens in MLB The Show 25
There are so many good Clemens cards to explore. The biggest key with Clemens will be how effective the splitter is in the game this year. It hasn’t traditionally been an overpowering pitch, but we will see if that has changed in MLB The Show 25.
James “Cool Papa” Bell in MLB The Show 25
As for the other legends, one has been confirmed—though it takes a hardcore baseball historian to call it out. Negro League legend James “Cool Papa” Bell was shown at the end of the trailer. Diamond Dynasty fans may not realize how good of a player they will have access to with Bell.
While Bell cards won’t have a ton of power, he was a career .325 hitter with tremendous speed. Bell led the Negro Leagues in steals eight times. Expect to see some Bell cards with maxed-out contact, bunting, and speed attributes, along with every speedster quirk.
I love those kinds of cards.
Other Legends With a Great Chance For Inclusion in MLB The Show 25
In addition to Ramirez, Clemens, and Bell, there is a good chance Nomar Garciaparra, Ichiro Suzuki, Oscar Charleston, and maybe Alex Rodriguez will be added to the legends pool. I’d love to say Barry Bonds will be added, but I haven’t heard anything that suggests that’s in the bag.
I wouldn’t rule it out, but if it is happening, I’d expect it to be revealed at the very end of the deep dive and the Legends content reveal scheduled for March 11. Because the Legends trailer is landing so close to the March 14 early access and the official release date of March 18, you have to wonder if Sony would wait that long to unveil a legend as big as A-Rod or Bonds.
Because of that, I’m leaning more toward the idea that those two might have to wait until MLB The Show 26. We’ll know for sure soon enough.
Be on the lookout for coverage following each of the deep dives and content reveals leading up to the release date for MLB The Show 25.
Take a look at the schedule for the reveals below.
If you could pick one legend that hasn’t been confirmed that you want added to the game, which one would it be?
